Scottish Ancestry Available Packages
We will be using a common example throughout our explanation of each package, a man called David McLeod from Thurso. David was born in 1960 which makes him 46. David has decided to trace his father's side of the family to begin with.
The Bronze Package

Whilst the lowest priced package this in no way reflects a reduction in quality. With the Bronze package the following are included:
Paternal or maternal side
Direct ancestors back to Great, Great Grandparents.
Details of births, deaths and marriages including dates, locations, spouses details, parents details and causes of death. |

When David buys the Bronze Package he will already obviously know his father, and his father's grandparents. The Bronze Package takes him back to around the 1860's and includes a total (including himself) of 16 people. Himself, his father, 2 grandparents, 4 great grandparents and 8 great great grandparents. He gets all of the available information about their births, deaths and marriages including dates, locations, causes of death etc.
The Silver Package

This package takes the Bronze package further by one generation and includes an additional 16 ancestors i.e. 8 sets of Great Great Great Grandparents.
Also, there will be expanded commentary on the likely social standing and life they may have had based on this information.

David decided to upgrade to the Silver Package. Whilst one generation doesn't sound like a lot more information it is in fact a further 16 individuals, 16 births and deaths, and 8 marriages. Therefore his tree has doubled in size to 32 people! And he is now back into the 1830's.
The Gold Package

This integrates all of the benefits of the silver package but will include both paternal and maternal sides of the family.
It also includes census information for each ancestor back to the 1860's for each of the 10 year periods they were alive. The census information will show where they lived, with whom, what their occupations were and give a flavour of their social standing and lifestyle. It also gives a history of their movements and migration.
Basically, twice the number of ancestors and lots more information about who your ancestors were and how they lived. Fascinating! |

David decides on the Gold Package and now has twice as many ancestors again with his mother's side and father's side i.e.64. Best of all, he now knows where his ancestors were living every 10 years back to the 1860's and what they were doing.
The Platinum Package

The King of our researching packages.
If you have read about the experiences of Paul Keatley and Steve Jones in the About Us section, you will understand what the Platinum Package entails.
It’s a no holds barred research phenomenon that will take your family tree back as far as is possible in numerous directions. It will pick up not just direct line ancestors but encompasses other branches.
For instance, if your great grandmother had 2 brothers then we will attempt to track their marriages and children. This is an ever expanding family tree experience and provides a springboard for you to trace living relatives throughout the World.
This is an exquisite package that isn’t cheap, but really great things cost money and the end result will prove worth more to you than any amount of money.

David decides to invest in the Platinum Package and his family tree has grown in all directions. He is back into the 1770's and has census information back to 1841. He has over 250 ancestors in his tree. As with the other packages, David now has his own family tree on the internet to share with his friends as well as a bound history of his family. He is so pleased at what has been discovered that he asks the Scottish Ancestry team to travel to 3 relevant locations and get photographs for him. He lives in Germany now and cannot make time to look for himself.
